Estate Merlot

2013 Estate Merlot

The most unique thing about this Merlot is that it is 100% Merlot—a first for us. After tasting through many blends that included our typical Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon additions, we decided that this Merlot was strong enough to stand on its own. It didn't need additional varietals to give it structure and beauty.

Aromas include blueberry, a touch of ripe raspberries and bay leaf. The wine has firm tannins and a juicy, delicious body. The finish ends with a memory of butterscotch candies from a childhood visit to grandmother’s house.

OLDER VINTAGES

2012 Estate Merlot

This Merlot is packed with ripe Bing cherries, blackberries, and currants. Nuances of dusty spices from a baking rack and hints of leather from an old baseball glove all add complexity to this luscious and full-bodied wine. Firm tannins balance with fruit to create what Jay & Doug love to call our “Cab-lover’s Merlot.”

"...this is a bit lighter than the 2007 Merlot, but just as good, if not better. Lush and loaded with black cherry, blackberry, cocoa and baking spices, it extends deliciously and seamlessly into a long, ripe, smooth finish. Editors’ Choice." —P.G., Wine Enthusiast Magazine
