Doug Harvey grew up in Walla Walla and attended college in Seattle. Upon graduation, he moved to San Francisco in the early 1970s to attend law school. Doug took weekend trips to the Napa Valley, attempting to discover small wineries making big red wines. Subsequent trips to France with his daughter, Ali, reinforced his love of the Bordeaux varietals.
When Doug finished practicing law in San Francisco, he retired to Walla Walla to spend more time with family. He then met Jay DeWitt on the golf course and they started to make garage wine in the early 2000s. Doug spent most of 2003 practicing the trade skills that he learned from his father & brothers, turning the old Dumas Station apple packing shed into a winery–a project that continues to this day.
