Jay grew up on a Walla Walla area wheat farm. He is the forth generation in the DeWitt family to farm. He earned a degree in Agronomy from WSU and spent several years consulting farmers in northern California where he fell in love with great Cabernet Sauvignons. He moved back to the Walla Walla valley in 1987 and farmed with his family until founding Dumas Station along with Doug Harvey in 2003. His is a strong believer that great wine is made in the vineyard and that constant attention to the grapes will be rewarded.
Pete was the original marketing and sales guy for Dumas Station in the early days – when we were still producing less than 1,000 cases. He left the winery in 2010 and went to work for a bank in their marketing department. After seven years away from us we were able to persuade Pete to rejoin Dumas Station to help with our marketing and sales efforts. Pete is a die-hard Washington State University Cougar fan and a graduate of the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.
Marcos has been working with Jay since just about the beginning. A jack of all trades, Marcos not only manages our vineyard, but is our go-to anytime we need something built or fixed. Marcos and his wife are raising two sons in Walla Walla.
This is our tasting room manager, Stephanie Jones. She has a diverse background in hospitality, retail, event planning and social media. Since she has joined our team, the tasting room area has already been beautified. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys creating art in multiple mediums. Her artistic eye is definitely coming through in the improvements she’s making at the winery. Stephanie and her husband, Jared, along with their three kids, live in Dayton where our winery is located.
Juli has been a member of the Dumas Station tasting room team for close to three years now. You’ll see Juli and her infectious smile most Saturday’s and occasionally on some of our other open days. When she’s not pouring wine at Dumas, Juli is either at work in the HR department at Walla Walla Community College, hanging out with her husband and cat, or visiting her grandchildren on Washington’s west side.
